OverviewThe community programme in professional football was established here at Notts County in 1989 and was originally aimed at reducing the amount of violence at matches. The main focus of football in the community at the outset was to build positive links with its local communities. A wide range of partnerships are now in place between football in the community and local agencies that work for the benefit of people in the city and county. We are now well positioned to take the scheme forward to meet the needs of the community, developing programmes in priority areas:
Football in the community will develop its positive influence in the above areas and at the same time, continue to deliver its core football-related programmes, mainly through our extensive primary school activities and school holiday events. The main objective of our school based programmes will be to provide opportunities for children to take up physical activities both in and out of school through structured pathways working with other appropriate organisations and agencies.
