New Community Director Appointed
The Board of Trustees has announced that Steve Hill is the new leader of Notts County Football Club’s award winning Community Programme.

Hill, 50, has been at Meadow Lane for twelve years and has worked alongside former Community Director Graham Moran in establishing the Magpies’ scheme as one of the most respected in the country, winning the FA Football Development Award for Education, Investors in People status and becoming the first football club to achieve the Racial Equality Standard.

“We’ve placed the future of the scheme in the very capable hands of Steve Hill,” said John Scardino, Chairman of the Trustees. “We are delighted he has accepted the job. Steve’s accomplishments at the scheme are impressive and there is no one more qualified to lead it going forward. We are especially impressed by the admiration for Steve among the staff and colleagues at Meadow Lane and among community leaders.”

With a full time staff of 15, Notts County’s community programme is held in the highest regard across the City and beyond for their willingness to provide opportunities for people who have found themselves excluded from routine sports provision.

The Community Programme at Notts County has Charitable Trust status and works with key partners in sport, local government, health, education and the criminal justice system. Funding partners include Capital One, Geldards, Nottingham City Council, The Football Foundation and Concept 2.

Mr Hill wants to see the Charitable Trust developed to include other local sports and thereby provide more sustainable opportunities for all sections of the community in Nottingham.

“It has been a fantastic journey so far with Graham in charge and now I have an opportunity to both build on that, and also tailor our service more to the needs of our customers,” he said.

“We have an experienced and highly motivated team, all of whom have been trained to deal with issues like disability, adult mental health and youth inclusion. It is vital now that we develop those links still further in order that people from all backgrounds in our community continue to see the improvements that we can bring through our long-term relationships with a variety of agencies,” he added.
