EVENING FOOTBALL SESSIONS FOR LOCAL YOUNG PEOPLE

Football in the Community are providing opportunities for local young people to play football for free during weekday evenings. Our Kickz project has been running for almost 5 years with sessions taking place each Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Clifton hosts sessions on Monday and Wednesdays (both 6pm – 9pm), there is an additional session in the Meadows on Wednesday evening (6pm – 9pm), with Powerleague the venue for the Friday evening session (6pm – 8pm)

We have recently started delivery of two new sessions, both on Friday evenings. One takes place at Portland Leisure Centre (5.30pm – 7pm) with the other being held in West Bridgford Park, in partnership with the County Council Youth Bus programme (6.30 – 8.30).

All sessions target young people aged between 13 – 18 years old, both male and female. If you would like more information on any of the sessions please contact our office on 0115 9557 215 or email info@nottscountyfitc.org.uk

MEDIA FOCUS ON COMMUNITY PROJECT

Our promotion of positive Mental Health has, in recent years, led us to win a Football League Award. This year, once again, will see our delivery come under the spotlight. Our coaching team, led by Ian Richardson, currently deliver 3 sessions a week, working with different participants to promote positive mental health using football as vehicle to achieve this.

We received funding from Sports Relief to continue our work with this hard to reach target group. As a result of our success, Football in the Community, and specifically our mental health promotion activities, was recently filmed by the BBC East Midlands as their lead feature for this years Sports Relief campaign. They were using our scheme and the project to show how the money from funding has been spent and the benefits it has made to individuals. For more information on our mental health promotion activities please email Ian Richardson, ir@nottscountyfitc.org.uk
